Electronic Communications and Notifications

The Virginia Society will increasingly use email for communications with our members. As we continue to implement our new membership management system, warriors will have the ability to pay dues online, access newsletters and blogs, access the membership directory and update their personal profiles. All of these features will be available to warriors behind a secure firewall, with each warrior having his own login and password.

One of the key features of this system will be the ability to register, and pay, for events. Unfortunately, mail delivery is becoming increasingly unreliable. For our most recent event, we received several registrations after the deadline, despite showing post marks of two weeks prior to the event. More recently, we received a packet from the Post Office with four letters enclosed. A post it note was in the packet and said simply “these were found on the post office floor.” All contained checks, one was registration for an event scheduled three weeks earlier and the others for annual dues.

Because our venues require final head counts typically 3-5 days in advance of an event, we urge members to make use of online registration. We cannot confirm a mailed event registration until it is received, so, if you choose to use US Mail, we encourage you to register at least three weeks prior to ensure we receive it in time to include you in our final count.
